"I stand against the foul, noxious, pungent ODOUR affecting many residents. I will work tirelessly to rid the surrounding suburbs of the terrible, stinking, unhealthy, noxious odour that escapes the WCF and POLLUTES OUR AIR."
Christopher Boots
Independent Candidate For Riverton27th August 2008
My name is Mr. Christopher BOOTS and I am your INDEPENDENT candidate for RIVERTON and I seek your support at the next State Election on 6th September 2008 - see Chris Boots "Give the Odour the Boot" how-to-vote card.
For 5 years the residents of this area have suffered from a disgusting, noxious odour produced by the Waste Composting Facility (WCF) at the Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) in Canning Vale. As a result many residents are suffering serious health issues.
I stand against the foul, noxious, pungent ODOUR affecting many residents in Riverton. I am aware how this awful ODOUR is affecting many residents’ lives. I am a Parkwood resident myself. I am also a Mechanical Engineer and I have intimate knowledge of the WCF because I was employed as the Maintenance Engineer at the WCF. I resigned due to the mismanagement and neglect for engineering design principles. I will work tirelessly to rid the surrounding suburbs of the terrible, stinking, unhealthy, noxious odour that escapes the WCF and POLLUTES OUR AIR.
The stench is a serious health issue to all residents within a 2km radius of the RRRC. The stinking ODOUR is much worse at night time. It is unbelievable how the residents can manage to sleep on such nights. The residents are suffering from blood noses, itchy eyes, wheezing and nausea from the overwhelming stink. The symptoms are amazingly consistent among the suffering residents. It is time for this terrible ODOUR to STOP.
It is shocking that this issue has been allowed to continue without any direct action for the last FIVE years. For some reason, various authorities have been loath to tackle it. It is NOT a political issue. It is a QUALITY OF LIFE issue. Now is the time to make your VOTE COUNT.
I am already a COUNCILLOR with the City of Canning. I was elected on this very issue nine months ago. I want accountability of those who allowed the residents to suffer through no fault of their own.
I moved a Council motion on the 24th June 2008 to have the City of Canning withdraw from SMRC and am still pursuing it. I have always been consistent with my arguments and follow through with my promises. I have a track record of making tough decisions when required. The facility in Canning Vale is managed by the regional council SMRC. The unpleasant ODOUR has been smelt over a wide range of area in Canning Vale, Bull Creek, Leeming, Willetton and Parkwood. SMRC have been involved with deceit and appalling behaviour with the residents. The residents are tired of their propaganda and it is no surprise that SMRC today has absolutely no local community support.
I seek election to State Parliament to take this unhealthy ODOUR issue to a higher level. I will seek accountability of those at State Government level whom have failed to address this foul, noxious, pungent ODOUR without any direct action for the last FIVE years.
This is your chance to protect forever your right to a clean healthy lifestyle. I will work diligently to preserve your right to work, rest and play with all your loved ones in a healthy, safe environment. I will strive tirelessly to terminate this foul ODOUR. Four more years of stink, NO THANKS!
